Taken By the Wind

Some days you just know
The wind, it doesn’t blow quite right.
I remember the cold wind, twice,
I never knew what it meant the first time.
But it came back strong
Through the house it went
Cold paths left behind.

The final night of his stay
I prayed and prayed.
The night was dark
Stars so bright
Windows open,
I had a child’s wish that night.

Wished upon a star
For me and him to feel again,
No one saw the silent tears of a kid.
The final hour rolled around,
Late that night the word came
He wasn’t to come home again.

The night was dark
Stars so bright
Cold wind cutting my face.
No one could see my heart bursting
Torn in two from that moment since.

Only a fool throws away the chance
At going home where love is,
Where life begins and ends.
Never forget, daddy where you came from
That’s where the night is best,
Where family is
At the end of a long journeys rest.

Missed out on memories made
A father guardian gone,
Everything a daddy’s girl needed
Or ever dreamed of.

Yet life goes on.
I held on for far too long
Both hands clenched tight.
And I wanna let you know,
I’ll forgive you
For the silent tears
Of a broken-hearted kid that night.

Gotta live life,
The wind is warm
The sun is out
Sky’s so bright
I’m finally happy
Without having you always around
